The IPA Asia-Pacific Conference

The IPA Asia-Pacific Conference is taking place in Tokyo over the 3rd – 5th May 2018. It is the largest gathering of psychoanalysts in the region and boasts an impressive programme of lectures, clinical sessions and discussion groups.

More than 60 leading psychoanalysts will present on a range of topics related to the conference theme – ‘On Dependence’ over the course of the three-day event.

Looking forward to the event, President of the IPA, Virginia Ungar, said: “Nowadays, we cannot think about our psychoanalytic practice as focusing purely on the patient or the analyst; both live in a changing world and are a part of it. We need to ensure that we take different contexts into account and learn from our colleagues around the world."

“The Asia-Pacific Conference provides us with the perfect opportunity to do this. It will facilitate the exchange of our experiences coming from the practice of Psychoanalysis in Asia and in western countries, and enables us to discuss technical and theoretical contributions
.”

The conference is open to IPA members, candidates or members of the public working in related professional fields or with an interest in psychoanalysis.
